Calling it an “act of love for my city,” Giorgio Armani opened his luxury hotel in Milan today, according to an article in Women’s Wear Daily.
Located opposite the Via Montenapoleone shopping street and near the cathedral Il Duomo, the hotel is in a 1937 building that also houses Armani’s Manzoni 31 flagship.
Among the design details inside the 162,000-square-foot hotel are a second-floor reception area, 95 guest rooms and suites designed by Armani and furnishings by Armani Casa, including linens, fabrics and custom furniture. A spa on the eighth floor measures 13,000 square feet with six dedicated treatment rooms, a Couples Suite, a gym and a pool.
The Milan venue follows the opening of the designer’s first hotel in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa tower in April 2010. The hotels operate under the Armani Hotels & Resorts banner, a venture between Giorgio Armani SpA and Dubai-based developer Emaar Properties PJSC that was formed in 2005. Further Armani hotel locations are planned for New York, London and Paris, reports WWD.
