Asda Hires New Coo

Asda (Leeds, England) has hired Roger Burnley to join its corporate team and help turn around the grocery chain, which experienced its worst sales performance in its 50-year history during this past August.

Burnley will oversee the company’s management team as chief operating officer and is expected to join the company within the next year, after taking up to a year of gardening leave, reports The Telegraph. He previously worked at Asda between 1996 and 2002.

Burnley left his most recent position as retail and operations director at Sainsbury (London) to take the Asda job. Sainsbury has begun searching for his replacement, reports The Guardian.
