Athleta Sets Sustainability Goals

On Earth Day, Gap Inc.’s (San Francisco) Athleta CEO Nany Green announced the retailer’s goal to use all sustainable fibers by 2020.

Athleta’s recycling programs has saved 14 million plastic bottles from landfills to date, and its current percentage of use of sustainable materials is set to hit double digits this year, reports Glossy. The retailer is also involved in a water conservation initiative and a Fair Trade program that will benefit women working in factories.

“We have a responsibility to protect our playground; to positively contribute to the direction of the apparel industry; to offer our customers more responsible options and drive demand for sustainable goods; and to support the limitless potential of women and girls,” said Green.
