Gap-owned athleisure brand Athleta (San Francisco) will enter the Canadian market, first with an e-commerce launch followed by new retail stores, according to a press release. The stores will open this fall at Yorkdale Shopping Center in North York, Canada, and Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver, Canada.

“International expansion is a key component of our growth strategy to reach $2 billion dollars in net sales by 2023, and we are very proud to introduce Athleta to customers in Canada,” said Mary Beth Laughton, Athleta President and CEO.”

The brand plans to open 20 to 30 stores annually across North America. In 2020, it surpassed $1 billion in net sales and had 16 percent annual sales growth.
