Michael Celestino, executive vp, store operations, Barneys New York, is no longer with the company. The 20-year veteran of the store was dismissed on Monday, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
The luxury specialty department store has appointed Kevin Dyson, senior vp and general manager of Barneys’ Madison Avenue flagship, to replace Celestino. “Kevin will assume responsibility for all store operations, including flagship, Co-op and outlet stores, restaurant operations and the warehouse sale,” said a Barneys spokeswoman, reports WWD. “Kevin brings with him 21 years of store-line experience for Barneys New York.”
Celestino was part of a committee of seven executive vps that ran Barneys for two years until Mark Lee was appointed ceo last fall. Three other executive vp have also recently departed the company, including David New, creative services, Karl Hermanns, marketing and advertising, and Judy Collinson, general merchandise manager of women’s. Simon Doonan, former creative director, is being phased out with the title creative ambassador at large. Steven Ho, the designer buyer for key luxury labels including Lanvin and Balenciaga, was also recently dismissed.
Lee has announced some replacements, hiring Dennis Freedman as creative director to succeed Doonan and appointing Daniella Vitale to chief merchant and executive vp overseeing all women’s and barneys.com.
