MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Design consultancy Fitch (Columbus, Ohio) has appointed two new creatives within its Columbus studio. Kathy Tedorski was appointed to the creative leadership team as associate design director and Brandon Page has been named associate design director. In addition, Carly Tysh has been hired as environmental designer.

STORE OPENINGS

Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, has opened its newest shop in New Orleans at the exact location of a Baskin-Robbins shop that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The original shop, along with five other local-area Baskin-Robbins locations, closed due to damages sustained during the hurricane.

Sheetz Inc. (Altoona, Pa.) has opened a convenience store in Rocky Mount, N.C. The new location includes the MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, and Sheetz Bros. Coffeez full-service espresso and smoothie bar. The company operates more than 360 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Michael Kors Inc. plans to open a new lifestyle store in Seattle’s Pacific Place during the 2010 holiday season. The 1579-square-foot store will offer a full range of accessories and shoes from the Michael Kors, KORS Michael Kors and MICHAEL Michael Kors collections, as well as a selection of ready to wear pieces, fragrance, watches and eyewear.

Pompei A.D. (New York), a full service creative design firm, has completed the branding and design concept for LŌCALE, a new retail experience being developed by the ALDO Group. ALDO Group plans to open six LŌCALE stores in Canada this fall, offering shoes along with bags and other accessories for men and women.

Montreal-based software developer Visual 2000 has partnered with Sampleroom to add the PLM software product, Visual PLM.netTM, to its product offering, enabling merchandisers and designers to use visual storyboards at the beginning of product development, not just at the end.
