Belk to Sponsor “Project Runway”

Belk Inc. (Charlotte, N.C.), the southeastern regional department store chain, will sponsor the fashion design TV show “Project Runway” this year.

The show’s 12th season begins in September. The previous retail sponsor was Lord & Taylor.

Belk’s participation will include providing an accessory wall to be incorporated into the contestants’ runway looks and to offer its lifestyle marketing campaign “Modern. Southern. Style.” as design inspiration for the designers.

John Thomas, Belk’s evp of private brands, will be a guest judge on one of the shows. The winner will have the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive line at Belk.
