Best Buy (Richfield, Minn.) saw comparable store sales grow by 37.2 percent during the first quarter of 2021 as compared to the same period last year, according to a company press release. Its top-line sales, as compared against 2019’s numbers, also saw growth around 27 percent.
According to Retail Dive, most of that growth occurred at the store level, and Best Buy is in the process of testing new store concepts – sizes ranging from 15,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet – as well as some outlet stores.
Corie Barry, Best Buy’s CEO, said, “Customer demand for technology products and services during the quarter was extraordinarily high. This demand is being driven by continued focus on the home, which encompasses many aspects of our lives including working, learning, cooking, entertaining, redecorating and remodeling. The demand was also bolstered by government stimulus programs and the strong housing environment.”
