Blockbuster Names New President

Blockbuster Inc. (Dallas) has named company veteran Nigel Travis as president and coo. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's global store operations and will report to chairman and ceo John Antioco.

The company said that Travis, who had been president of the worldwide stores division, will continue to be responsible for all aspects of worldwide store operations, including marketing, merchandising, new concept development and now also the implementation of technology initiatives to support the stores.

Before joining Blockbuster in 1994, Travis served as senior vp and managing director for Burger King in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During his tenure at Blockbuster, he has been senior vp, Europe, and president, international operations.
