Bloomingdale’s Focuses on Outlet Expansion

Upscale department store retailer Bloomingdale’s (New York) plans to open a “cluster” of outlet stores next spring and fall, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The retailer introduced its outlet concept in 2010, growing to seven stores in one year.

Bloomingdale’s operates outlet locations, which average 25,000 square feet, in Florida, New Jersey, Illinois and Virginia.

The retailer says its outlets stand apart because they offer a higher percentage of merchandise directly from vendors, as opposed to goods produced in-house.
