Bloomingdale’s to Honor Chinese New Year

Bloomingdale’s, the New York-based luxury division of Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati), will honor the Chinese New Year this year with special windows, in-store displays, merchandise and events.

The month-long tribute to the Year of the Horse will begin on Friday, January 10. The retailer will focus its efforts on four of its stores – the New York flagship store on 59th Street, North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the San Francisco Center and South Coast Plaza, Calif. – though all of its 43 stores will participate in some way.

There will be pop-up shops with a selection of exclusive apparel, accessories and home décor items chosen by the retailer’s fashion office, including a Longchamp Year of the Horse tote bag and a red chinchilla jacket by Carmen Marc Valvo Couture. Bloomingdale’s has also created its own limited-edition reusable tote bag. There will also be themed  merchandise throughout the store from such vendors as Burberry, Chloé, Dior and Estée Lauder.

It is the second year that Bloomingdale’s has paid tribute to the Chinese New Year. “It is part of the Bloomingdale’s DNA to pay tribute to a variety of different cultures and causes throughout the year,” said Anne Keating, senior vice president of public relations, special events and corporate philanthropy.
