Bonaveri featured at the Green Carpet Challenge on a 'Night To Remember'

The Green Carpet Challenge (GCC), who raises awareness of sustainability within the fashion industry, paired up with the British Academy of Television Arts (BAFTA) and the British Fashion Council to host their fourth event titled “A Night To Remember” on September 18th. The event hosted during London's Fashion week, marked the date when Bonaveri introduced the world's first biodegradable mannequins created from sustainable and renewable materials.

The mannequins are a result of an ambitious research project beginning in 2012, which Bonaveri set the goal investigating the environmental impact of each mannequins life cycle from the design to the end-of-life processing.

Through this in-depth analysis, Bonaveri was able to produce mannequins from a bio based polymer consisting of a 72% sugarcane derivative (Bplast®), finished in completely renewable, organic substances (Bpaint®) obtaining a 3-star OK BIOBASED certification from Vinçotte of Belgium.

The annual event hosted by Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director of Eco-Age, included co-hosts Anna Wintour, William Vintage, Natalie Massenet, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Amanda Berry, the curator in charge of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Andrew Bolton, with Andrea and Guido Bonaveri. Other guests such as Will.I.Am, Molly Goddard, Pixie Lott, Nicole Farhi, and Bianca Jagger were also among the attendees.

Celebrating fashion from the world's iconic red carpets, the new sustainable mannequins were unveiled, dressed in couture creations by William Vintage with work by Hubert de Givenchy to John Galliano and Alexander McQueen during a special evening event.

The night concluded with the guests watching the UK premiere of the film, “First Monday in May,” Andrew Rossi's behind-the-scenes look at the lead up to the enormously successful, Metropolitan Museum of Art's 2015 exhibition “China: Through The Looking Glass” which featured custom bespoke Schlappi mannequins created by the team at DK Display and Bonaveri.
