The board of directors of Borders Group Inc. (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has named David Shelton, 62, as a new director. Shelton spent most of his retail career with home improvement retailer Lowe's Cos. before retiring in 2006 from his post as senior vp, real estate, engineering and construction.

“We are pleased to welcome David as a director,” says Borders Group ceo Ron Marshall. “He brings valuable experience and insights to Borders from nearly four decades with one of the nation's leading retailers. We look forward to benefiting from his guidance.”
