Brow Beating

Cosmetician Anastasia Soare presided in the 44th Street window of Sephora’s Times Square (New York) store this week.

The Beverly Hills, Calif.-based “eyebrow priestess to the stars,” who recently opened two shops within Sephora — one at the Times Square store and the other in the Fifth Avenue store between 48th and 49th streets — ministered to customers who came to have their eyebrows pruned.

In the shops, customers can have their brows worked on by Soare’s lab-coated aestheticians and purchase take-home beauty kits filled with brow powders, pomades, waxes and stencils. In California, Soare caters to the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.

In the window, as she worked so publicly on customers, Soare said, “We don’t have to hide in a back closet to have this process done. Women should be able to look at the work of making other women beautiful.”
