Carhartt Opens Detroit Flagship

Carhartt (Dearborn, Mich.) has opened a new flagship location in Detroit. Located at 5800 Cass Ave., by Wayne State University, the store is near the area where the brand was first launched in 1889. Consequently, the store pays homage to the brand’s local history as well as its blue-collar roots.

Housed in an historic 1928 three-story art deco building that once housed auto dealerships, the store features a bright mural of working men and women is painted on the exterior with the phrase, “Born in Detroit,” across it.

Currently, the company is only using the building’s first floor and has not yet decided how to use the second and third stories, reports the Detroit Free Press. This store marks Carhartt’s 20th standalone retail store.
