Carrefour Returns to Greece After 10 Years

Carrefour (Massy, France) is partnering with Retail & More, a subsidiary of Pallini, Greece-based TeleUnicom, to open franchised stores in Greece after leaving the country roughly 10 years ago, according to a company press release and Greek Reporter.

Carrefour was previously in a partnership with the Greek retail company Marinopoulos Group but sold its stake in 2012 during the debt crisis in the country. The first of the new Carrefour locations is set to open in Crete before summer 2022.

“The Carrefour brand and products are well known to Greek customers and we are very excited to bring them the best of Carrefour. TeleUnicom will give us the best platform to enter this market quickly and efficiently. By setting up in Greece in 2022, Carrefour International maintains its strong development dynamic in new [regions],” says Patrick Lasfargues, Executive Director of International Partnerships, Carrefour.
