Casa Palacio Opens in Mexico City

El Palacio de Hierro SA (Mexico City) has opened its third Casa Palacio furniture and housewares store, in Mexico City’s Santa Fe mall.

The 75,000-square-foot store will carry brands such as RL from Ralph Lauren, Versace and Roberto Cavalli.

The upscale department store operation opened its first Casa Palacio in Mexico City’s Antara Mall in 2008. The second store opened in Cancun in 2010. A fourth store is already being planned for 2016, in the Andares mall in Guadalajara.

Ignacio Reynoso, director of Casa Palacio, told Women’s Wear Daily that sales in the Antara unit have risen 15 to 20 percent annually, showing great signs of life in the Mexican economy, especially among more prosperous consumers.

The Casa Palacio store was designed by Jeffrey Hutchinson (New York).
