Eugene Kahn has resigned as ceo of accessories retailer Claire’s Stores Inc. (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), reports Women’s Wear Daily.

Kahn has served as ceo of the chain since 2007, when it was acquired by Apollo Management. Before joining Claire’s, he spent 15 years with the former May Department Stores Co., which has since been renamed Macy’s Inc.

James Conroy and Jay Friedman will share the role of interim ceo while the board searches for a replacement.

The company operates 3047 Claire’s and Icing stores in North America and Europe.
