The Container Store (Coppell, Texas) has named Peggy Doughty vp, visual merchandising, as part of a company-wide management shakeup.
The storage products retailer also named Sharon Ellis as cfo, Mona Williams, vp of buying and Lucy Witte, vp of marketing.
Doughty had been senior merchandise director. In her new post, she will be responsible for directing, coordinating and communicating the merchant vision as it pertains to all areas of the company’s visual sales and new store planning and development initiatives. She began her career with The Container Store in 1987 in a full-time sales position at the San Antonio store, later becoming store manager. She also served as a buyer for the retailer’s best-selling elfa line — a ventilated wire shelving and drawer system — and shelving products. “Under Doughty’s leadership,” said the company, “The Container Store has seen an exciting evolution and elevation of its visual merchandising presence in its stores, which it views as a vital component of driving sales and making a lasting brand impact on the customer.”
The retailer called the moves “an effort to enhance the support of future growth, brand and sales development.”
The Container Store currently has 35 locations across the country. It will open in the Seattle area (in Bellevue, Wash.) on Oct. 29, 2005, and its second New York City store (Lexington Avenue and 58th Street, across from Bloomingdales) on March 4, 2006.
