Tensator Ltd. (Milton Keynes, U.K.), a supplier of crowd control and line management systems in Europe, has acquired Lawrence Metal Products (Bay Shore, N.Y.) for $25 million.
The transaction will create a single global corporate umbrella for marketing the TensaBarrier retractable belt line management system and the companies’ other product lines. Tensator and Lawrence products are currently sold in 170 countries throughout the world. The new company is projected to post annual sales of $60 million and achieve a global market share of approximately 55 percent.
“Our company has experienced several years of dynamic growth,” said group ceo Jeremy Williman, noting that revenues have grown 19 percent over the past four years. “The acquisition of Lawrence, the North American market leader in the industry, is a significant step in Tensator’s strategic goals to develop its brand and grow revenues worldwide.“
“We have established a dominant position in the U.K. and Continental Europe, which will now be complemented by Lawrence’s market leadership in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Japan,” Williman continued. “With our additional direct sales offices in Germany and Dubai, and more to come, we believe will be in a position to become the dominant player in our industry throughout the world.”
In addition to the flagship product TensaBarrier, the company’s products include a full range of barrier systems, post and rope products, and electronic queuing systems, supported by extensive custom design capabilities. Its customer base includes major retail chains, international airport terminals and other transportation centers, as well as banking, entertainment and other industries.
