David Mourning Receives 2015’s Legend Award From Contract Magazine
New York, NY -January 30th 2015 Contract Magazine has honored IA Interior Architects’ founder David Mourning, AIA, FIIDA with the prestigious Legend Award. The winners were announced during the Interiors Awards Breakfast at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. The annual event brings together the design industry’s top talent from around the world.
The Legend Award celebrates David’s leadership of the firm, and the entrepreneurial spirit that has helped IA blossom and grow into what it is today, 30 years after its founding. Previous Legend Award winners include Michael Graves (2013), Carl Magnusson (2012), Art Gensler (2010), and Moira Moser (2008).
Contract Magazine’s writer Lydia Lee stated at the beginning of her Legend Award article that David was chosen, “For his leadership in the profession, and for building the IA business into one of the most respected in the industry.” The magazine’s Editor in Chief John Czarnecki built upon that in his monthly editorial stating, “Mourning has played a significant role in not only leading a firm but in defining the modern practice of contract interior design.”
The CEO and Executive Vice President of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Cheryl Durst, Hon. IIDA, praised Mourning’s business insight in the article. “David Mourning is among those pioneers in our industry who have been widely credited with creating the modern design firm.”
