Derek Lam 10 Crosby Hits SoHo

Named for the company’s former headquarters on Crosby Street, Derek Lam has opened his first standalone store in New York — Derek Lam 10 Crosby.

The 2200-square-foot space designed by William Sofield of Studio Sofield is located at 115 Mercer Street in SoHo near other fashionable retailers.

Wanting to avoid the “long, bowling-alley formations” often found in SoHo stores, Lam says Sofield carved up the space with nooks and corners to highlight handbags and jewelry, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The shelving is inspired by packing crates, and work tables highlight various groups of merchandise.

Lam says he hopes to eventually open additional Derek Lam 10 Crosby units in Los Angeles, Florida and Chicago.
