Dick’s Sporting Goods

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. (Pittsburgh) has reported a 50 percent increase in total sales for its second quarter ended July 30, 2005, due primarily to the inclusion of the former Galyan’s operations in this year’s quarterly results for the full 13 weeks. The former Galyan’s stores will be included in the comparable store base beginning in the second quarter of fiscal 2006. Dick’s same-store sales gained 0.5 percent.

During the second quarter, the retailer opened three stores — in Toledo, Ohio, Greenville, S.C., and Pittsburgh — and relocated one store, in Dayton, Ohio. , PA. The Toledo store was a new two-level prototype.
