Disney to Close Another 60 Stores

Disney will close nearly 60 of its full-size retail stores in the U.S., according to USA Today. The news follows yesterday’s report that Target will open more than 100 Disney shop-in-shops inside its stores.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world,” said Stephanie Young, president of consumer products, games and publishing.

In March, Disney disclosed it would shutter at least 60 Disney stores in North America in 2021 to focus on its e-commerce business. Almost 40 stores were included in this first effort. After this second round of closing, about 24 stores will remain open.
