DNR to Suspend Publication

Fairchild Publications Inc. (New York) has announced it is suspending publication of The Daily News Record, the 116-year-old “bible of the menswear industry.” The company said coverage of the menswear industry will be folded into DNR’s sister publication, Women’s Wear Daily.
“In response to the industry’s need for more immediate men’s fashion and retail news, WWD and wwd.com will feature menswear coverage on a regular basis, starting December 15,” the publisher said. “DNR and dnrnews.com will cease publication.”
DNR was born as the Daily Trade Record in 1892 by Edmund Fairchild, who purchased a menswear-focused paper called the Chicago Herald Gazette, which he distributed at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. Women's Wear Daily, which began as a once-a-week page in DNR, was spun off as a standalone in 1919.
