Dollar General Names New Ceo

Dollar General Corp. (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) has named Todd J. Vasos its next ceo. Vasos, the company’s current coo, will replace retiring CEO Rick Dreiling, effective June 3. Vasos has served as the company’s coo since November 2013. Dreiling will remain on the board as senior advisor and chair through next January. Dollar General Corp. operates 11,000 stores in 43 states.

According to Progressive Grocer, Vasos joined Dollar General in 2008 as evp, division president and chief merchandising officer before his 2013 promotion to coo. Previously, Vasos held executive positions with Longs Drug Stores Corp., Phar-Mor Food and Drug Inc., and Eckerd Corp.
