CBL & Associates Properties Inc. (Chattanooga, Tenn.) announced that Dick's Sporting Goods will join both the 840,476-square-foot East Towne Mall and the 975,817-square-foot West Towne Mall in Madison, Wis., in the fall of 2004.
At both malls, the new Dick's Sporting Goods will be constructed in the locations previously occupied by the Boston Stores, a unit of Saks Inc. The company's larger Younkers stores will be converted and operated under the Boston Store name at both mall locations. The Boston Stores will be remodeled and converted by October 2003.
“The addition of Dick's Sporting Goods coincides with a multi-million dollar renovation and enhanced merchandising effort underway at both malls,” says Stephen Lebovitz, president of CBL & Associates Properties. “Our plans to redevelop and significantly upgrade these properties will improve both malls' appeal and attractiveness. We continue to have tremendous success in bringing other big-box retailers into the malls throughout our portfolio as a complement to traditional department store and specialty store retailers. As one of the leading full-line sporting goods retailers in the country, we believe Dick's Sporting Goods will help diversify our tenant mix.”
CBL & Associates Properties has a portfolio of 158 properties, including 55 enclosed malls, in 25 states totaling 58.1 million square feet.
