Duane Reade, Walgreens Co-Brand

New York’s Duane Reade drugstores are being rebranded as “Duane Reade by Walgreens.”

Walgreen Co. (Deerfield, Ill.), which bought the 54-year-old Duane Reade for $1.08 billion in 2010, said in a statement that the rebranding is being rolled out “in an effort to strengthen recognition among the Walgreens family of companies,” according to the New York Post.

The first store to receive the new treatment is located at Seventh Avenue just north of 34th Street. Most new or remodeled Duane Reades will display co-branded logos to include “by Walgreens.”
