Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. (Canton, Mass.) has announced plans to open as many as 150 Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the U.K. over the next five years.

The company already operates 100 Baskin Robbins ice cream parlors in the U.K. through local franchise agreements.

“There is significant opportunity for Dunkin’ Donuts in the U.K., and we have had a tremendous response from potential franchisees interested in developing the brand across the country,” said Dunkin’ Brands Intl. president Giorgio Minardi.

The chain also intends to boost its presence in Germany to 150 Dunkin’ Donut shops within five years. It has more than 10,500 restaurants in 31 countries, including Bulgaria, Russia and Spain.
