Early Shopping Breaks Record

Motivated by pre-black Friday promotions — both in-store and online — U.S. consumers’ spending in the earlier part of the holiday shopping season reached an all-time high this year. As of Dec. 10, according to the National Retail Federation, the average American shopper had completed 52.9 percent of his or her holiday shopping, up three percent over the same period last year.
