Eddie Bauer Opens in Vegas

Eddie Bauer (Redmond, Wash.) announced that its newest store will open at Desert Passage at the Aladdin in Las Vegas later this week.

The announcement came the same day that its parent company, bankrupt Spiegel Inc. (Downers Grove, Ill.), said it had won court approval to sell its flagship catalog business to Pangrea Holdings Ltd. (Bermuda), a private equity firm, for $53.4 million. Spiegel, in Chapter 11 reorganization since 2003, has also made clear its plans to sell Eddie Bauer.

“Eddie Bauer is excited to be opening at Desert Passage at the Aladdin,” said a spokesperson. “It is a unique marketplace that is a destination point for Las Vegas shoppers. We are confident Las Vegas residents and visitors will be delighted with Eddie Bauer’s offering of casual, versatile, outdoor-inspired pieces.”

The 5171-square-foot Desert Passage store is Eddie Bauer’s second retail location in the Las Vegas area. The company also operates an outlet at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets.
