EHI (Köln, Germany), a retail consultancy and the trade show organizer Messe Duesseldorf (Düsseldorf, Germany) have announced the 2013 winners of the annual EuroShop RetailDesign Awards. Designs were judged primarily on whether or not they displayed “a coherent store concept with a clear message about the merchandise range,” according to an EHI press release.
Winners include Hieber’s Frische Center (Bad Krozingen, Germany), a supermarket featuring matte black paintwork, an exterior wall with a 15-degree incline and minimalist black-and-white; as well as the flagship Liverpool Department Store in Interlomas, Mexico. Liverpool Interlomas features a futuristic silver façade and 3000-square-foot park-like rooftop garden.
Louis Vuitton Island Maison (Singapore) was also honored for its maritime look, which includes sail-like sun shades, a sun deck, teak and chrome materials, and asymmetrical steel and glass architecture.
Neiman Marcus, too, was named an award winner. The department store’s Walnut Creek, Calif., location, which bowed in March 2012, has a museum-like feel with bright, warm colors and a transparent, open feel achieved with the use of glass and metal.
