Fannie May Adds Two Ohio Stores

Chicago-based Fannie May Confections Brands Inc., a subsidiary of 1-800-Flowers.Com Inc., has opened the doors to two Ohio stores, in Beachwood and Strongsville, just in time for the holidays. The company plans six additional locations in Missouri and Indiana by the end of the month, bringing its store total to 82 locations in the Midwest.

“Visiting a Fannie May store is as much of a holiday tradition as having a box of Pixies, Trinidads or Mint Meltaways on the coffee table for many Midwestern families,” says Edward Fitzpatrick, vp, retail operations for Fannie May Confections Brands. “We're proud to expand Fannie May's retail presence in Ohio, and we plan to open more stores in the years to come.”

The first Fannie May retail store was opened by H. Teller Archibald in 1920 at 11 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago. By 1935, there were nearly four dozen retail stores in Illinois and neighboring states. In May 2006, the company joined the 1-800-Flowers.com family of brands.
