Federated Gains

Federated Department Stores Inc. (Cincinnati) reported a 3.6 percent increase in total sales for the four weeks ended July 31, 2004. Same-store sales were up 3.7 percent.

For the retailer’s second quarter, also ended July 31, total sales were up 3.4 percent and same-store were up 3.3 percent.

Year to date, Federated is enjoying a 5.1 percent increase in total sales and a 5.0 percent increase in same-store sales.
