Today, Fendi (Rome) is opening its largest flagship yet in London on New Bond Street. The three-level, 6804-square-foot store opening also marks the launch of Fendi’s new men’s retail concept, according to Women's Wear Daily.
The new unit, which was redesigned with the help of architect Gwenael Nicolas, is housed in a 19th Century building with a brick and terra-cotta facade in a Flemish style; the interior is enriched with design pieces and artwork.
Fendi’s existing boutique on Sloane Street will not be closed. “This was a piece of the puzzle that was missing, and we wanted to show to ourselves and others that we still have many [growth] possibilities,” Pietro Beccari, Fendi’s chairman and ceo, told WWD.
The company plans to reopen at Galeries Lafayette on Monday; to open a new boutique in China’s Chengdu on May 25; to expand its Landmark Hong Kong unit, and, by year-end, to open in Shanghai’s Plaza 66 and in New York at 57th Street and Madison Avenue, closing the existing Fifth Avenue boutique.
