Five Below Growth to Continue

Five Below Inc. (Philadelphia), the tween and teen retailer that sells items ranging from $1 to $5, will open 70 stores this year, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The company opened 62 units in 2014, closing out the year with 366 stores. Comparable store sales in 2014 were 3.2 percent, slightly higher than the company’s estimate of 3 percent. Five Below is again predicting comp sales of 3 percent for 2015.

According to the company’s website, more than a dozen new stores will open in the Chicago, Houston and Kansas City, Mo., markets. Other openings will take place primarily along the East Coast and in Southern states.
