Inside Edge Commercial Interior Services
(Minneapolis flooring services company) has hired Mark Randall as its vp, fixture services. Randall was previously director, fixture purchasing and implementation, for Best Buy.

idX Corp. (St. Louis manufacturer of consumer environments for the retail, financial and hospitality markets) has hired the following: Michael Burton, senior development manager; Alister Comrie, director, global development – Europe; Tom Milantoni, vp, client services; and Lynne Watson, corporate development.

(Greenville, Wis., division of F.C. Dadson Inc.) has added Celia Josh-Sawicki to its sales team.

Obituary:

Loewenstein Inc. (Pompano Beach, Fla., commercial furniture manufacturer) announced the passing of its founder, Hank Loewenstein. He died June 10, at age 85.

Store Openings/Contracts:

Storehouse Inc. (Atlanta specialty home retailer) has opened a 9000-square-foot store in Atlanta’s Buckhead section and also renovated its clearance center there.

F.C. Dadson Inc. (Greenville, Wis., fixture manufacturer) announced that it has been hired by Rockn’ Joe Coffeehouse and Bistro (Cranford, N.J., coffee roaster/retailer) to develop a turnkey fixture program for its future franchise locations. Also, Dadson said it has been hired by Flicko’s (Louisville, Ky., video workshop specializing in do-it-yourself videotape-to-DVD transfer) to create a more efficient fixture package for its franchisees.

Business Briefs:

Urban Retail Properties Co.
(Chicago developer) and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM, Los Angeles entertainment conglomerate) have entered a strategic alliance to create retail and mixed-use destination properties. The two companies plan to focus on building themed specialty shops, restaurants, nightclubs, cinemas and other interactive entertainment elements.

Awards:

Rothenberg Sawasy Architects (Los Angeles) announced that the 29,000-square-foot Container Store it designed in Pasadena, Calif., won a Gold Nugget Award of Merit at the Pacific Coast Builders’ Conference.

Cubellis (Boston architecture firm) announced that Steve Leone, a principal in its Freehold, N.J., office, been named 2005 Architect of the Year by the AIA New Jersey, Jersey Shore.
