Store Openings/Contracts:
CardSmart (Pawtucket, R.I., greeting-card retailer) plans to open more than 50 stores in 2004. The company currently has about 175 outlets.
P.B. Loco (Bloomington, Minn., quick-serve sandwich shop) has opened its flagship location in the Mall of America. Minneapolis-based KKE Architects Inc. designed the store.
Associations:
The National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers (Hollywood, Fla., trade group) has finalized plans for a store fixture trade mission to China this summer. The tour will begin in Hong Kong on June 5, and end either in Shanghai on June 13 or following an optional sightseeing trip to Beijing June 13-15. The purpose of the trip is to provide NASFM members an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the rapidly evolving manufacturing capabilities in China and to make business contacts there.
