BG 20/20, Bergdorf Goodman’s (New York) plan for reinventing its women’s store, has debuted accessory shops from designers Tom Ford and Christian Dior.
Joshua Schulman, president of the Manhattan destination, told Women’s Wear Daily, “We will respect the historic nature of the main floor with its mix of grandeur and intimacy while completely renovating and reimagining the space for an elevated shopping experience and improved adjacencies.”
The new in-store shops retain the landmark’s Beaux Art architecture, such as its grand moldings and parquet floors. The Ford shop, however, features tall, metal-framed glass vitrines. The Dior shop features etched mirrors and paneled molding, an updated take on Dior that maintains its classic references. “Dior has a strong, long-standing history with Bergdorf Goodman…with Mr. Christian Dior having visited the store during his first trip to America,” Pamela Baxter, president of Christian Dior Couture, told WWD.
