Former Walmart Exec Tom Coughlin Dies

Tom Coughlin, former number two exec for Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.), passed away Friday, April 1, at the age of 66. Coughlin joined the company in 1978 and was mentored by Sam Walton. He worked for the company for more than 26 years.

Business Insider reports Coughlin resigned in 2005 after internal investigations showed that he had misappropriated up to $500,000 in company funds. He was still consulted by Walmart as an advisor after his resignation.

The cause of death has not been confirmed at this time.
