Fresh Market Closes 13 Stores

The Fresh Market (Greensboro, N.C.) has announced that it is pulling out of four states, resulting in the closure of all its stores in Texas, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. The total number of stores affected is 13, with eight being in Texas, two in both Iowa and Kansas, and one store in Missouri. The closures will go into effect May 18 and until then, grocery items will be discounted.

The closures come after the company conducted a strategic review of its business, after having been purchased by private equity firm Apollo Global Management (New York) for $1.36 billion, reports The Dallas Morning News.
