Fresh Market Hires CEO

The Fresh Market, Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.) has hired Richard Anicetti as the company’s president and ceo, effective immediately. Anicetti is the first ceo the company has hired who was not already employed within the company.

Anicetti has more than 30 years in the retail industry, including previously serving as president and ceo for Food Lion (Salisbury, N.C.) grocery stores. While at Food Lion, he oversaw a major business model transformation and initiated changes to make it more customer-centric, reports a press release.

He was also a member of the board of directors for Number Holdings Inc. (Commerce, Cali.), which owns 99 Cents Only Stores, but he plans to resign from his current board positions, reports a press release.
