Gap Changes

Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has announced some management changes, perhaps the first of many as the troubled company begins to examine what has been going wrong.

Denise Johnston, president of Gap Adult, is leaving the company effective Jan. 12, 2006. A search for her replacement will be conducted, and Cynthia Harriss, president of Gap Brand North America, will oversee the adult business until a successor is named.

Gap also named Karyn Hillman senior vp, merchandising, for Gap Adult. Hillman, a 16-year veteran of the company, had been senior vp, apparel merchandising, for the Banana Republic division. She will report directly to Harriss until the brand names a head of the adult business.

The company also announced that Ivy Ross, executive vp, product design, for Old Navy, will leave the company effective Jan. 17, 2006. Until a replacement is named, the division’s design team will report to Old Navy president Dawn Robertson.
