G+G Names New CEO

G+G Retail Inc. (New York), which operates 597 specialty apparel stores under the Rave, G&G, Rave Girl and Authentica nameplates, has appointed Melanie Cox president and ceo, effective today.

Cox, a 20-year retail veteran, was most recently president of The Gymboree Corp. (San Francisco). She was also general merchandise manager at Urban Outfitters Inc. (Philadelphia), Contempo Casuals and The Wet Seal Inc. (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Clothestime Stores Inc., the 400-unit Anaheim, Calif.-based apparel retailer that went into bankruptcy in 1996.
