Giambattista Valli Opens First Stand-Alone Store

Fashion designer Giambattista Valli (Paris) has put the final touches on the creation of his independent fashion house with the opening of the brand’s first stand-alone store, a 1500-square-foot boutique in Paris.

The store is located in a 19th-century commercial arcade off of Rue Royal, underneath Giambattista Valli’s couture salon and design studio, and includes original 17th century stone pillars and beams and combines antique pieces with modern elements inspired by New York lofts, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The store’s windows are a playful collection of large photographs depicting rows of empty show seats and other scenes. “There are so many amazing windows — Lanvin, Hermès, just around the corner, I wanted to do my own thing,” Valli told WWD.

The interior includes other quirky details, including rough ceiling areas, pale pink walls and framed technical drawings. The store's main space is split into two areas, with one side offering large changing rooms and a central seating area and the other a long clothing unit in front of a row of windows.

Pieces from the designer’s archived collections are included with current collections, and hand-chosen antique objects and furniture add to the novelty of the space.
