Giorgio Goes Online

Giorgio Armani Parfums and Cosmetics (New York) announces the launch of a web site selling its fragrances and cosmetics, at www.giorgioarmanibeauty.com.

The site gives visitors access to the full range of Armani's fragrances and cosmetics. Previously, those products were only available at a limited number of physical retail locations around the U.S.

“I am approaching the launch of this web site with the same attention to detail and the same commitment as when I open a new boutique,” said Giorgio Armani. “This, however, is our virtual store and it has been designed to take advantage of all the benefits that the Internet now offers in terms of communication and commerce.”

For example, the site features the Giorgio Armani Beauty Bar, which allows visitors to see all products on a beauty counter displayed in front of them, as if they were in a physical store. A quick scroll takes the client to the product group of their choice.

Customers can also view and select individual shades of the company's products. With lipsticks, for instance, once a shade is chosen, consumers can see the color applied to the lips of a model on the web page in real-time. Consumers can click through the colors to find the shade they want.

In addition, customers will have the opportunity to preview story collections and purchase exclusives on the site. The first exclusive will be the Hollywood palette, which will be offered on the web site after the Golden Globe Awards mid-January, yet will not be on retail counters until February.

Giorgio Armani Parfums and Cosmetics is a division of L'Oreal USA's Luxury Products Group (New York).
