Growing Family

Family Dollar Stores Inc., fast-growing Matthews, N.C. -based discount store chain, has reported opening 55 stores during the four-week period ended Aug. 3, 2002, growing the organization to 4545 stores.

The 55 newest store locations are in: Texas (nine); Florida (five); Arizona, Louisiana and Michigan (four each); Ohio and Virginia (three each); Illinois, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New York, Utah and Wisconsin (two each); and one each in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
