Gucci (Florence, Italy) opened a new store in New York’s Brookfield Place last week, and this location is the first U.S. store to boast the retailer’s latest store design by creative director Alessandro Michele. Michele’s first new store design was unveiled in Milan, Italy, in September.
The 8000-square-foot store in lower Manhattan is inspired by travel with details such as steamer trunks (which were what launched founder Guccio Gucci’s business in the 1920s) included throughout.
Furniture in the store is upholstered in peach, beige, cherry, teal and black velvets and feature art deco-inspired silhouettes. Marble floors with Herringbone-patterned inlays are juxtaposed with cement floors.
The store also features Gucci’s cruise 2016 collection and some new product categories including fine jewelry, which will get its official launch next year, reports Women’s Wear Daily.
