Hallmark Cards Names Retail President

Hallmark Cards Inc. (Kansas City, Mo.) has appointed Jack Moore as president of its retail operations. Moore started this month and is responsible for retail revenue growth, branding messages, product offerings and daily operations. He succeeds Jim Boike, who is retiring.

Moore’s extensive retail background includes stops at Burlington Coat Factory, where he served as president; Linens N Things, as president and coo; and lead merchant at Kohl’s.

Hallmark’s revenue dropped 2 percent in 2008 and the company has implemented a wage freeze and job cuts to combat the tough sales climate. It recently began offering its first electronic-card subscription plan, which lets customers send unlimited e-cards for $9.99 a year. The plan includes all of Hallmark’s premium e-cards and licensed e-cards with hit music, TV shows and movies.
