Harrah’s Plans Las Vegas Retail Strip

Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., the world’s biggest casino company, announced plans to build a retail development in 2011 between its Flamingo and O’Sheas casinos in Las Vegas, according to Bloomberg.

The development will include bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment and a giant Ferris wheel. Chairman and ceo Gary Loveman says he sees “modestly encouraging trends in gaming,” and an improvement in the convention business in 2011, reports Bloomberg.

“The city doesn’t need more hotel rooms certainly, the city doesn’t need more casino square footage,” says Loveman. “We have a bunch of assets collected around one central place, and some people are already there because they’re residents there, but a lot of people aren’t so we need something that draws them into our neighborhood.”
